Gareth Fowler Band The Yardbird Jazz Club Thursday 14th March 6pm

Guitarist Gareth Fowler's Quartet consists of an exciting lineup of Mark Hodgson on bass (Randy Brecker, Cedar Walton), Andrew Bain on drums (Kenny Wheeler, Jon Irabagon) and the great up and coming Alto player Daniel Bayliss.

Born in 1990, Gareth Fowler grew up in Hampshire and started playing the guitar aged 6 where he had great tuition from John Grindey, Nigel Gordon, Mike Outram and Paul Robinson. During this time he had performed at Queen Elizabeth Hall With NYRO alongside Scott Henderson and Paul Gilbert. He also went on tour around Iceland, Germany and France with various bands.

Gareth graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied with Phil Robson, Jez Franks, Zolte Bende, Dave Cliff, John Taylor, Mike Williams, Hans Koller, Jean Toussaint, Ben Monder in Denmark. He has been involved in workshops with Jeff Ballard, Mark Turner, Dave Holland and George Colligan. During his time at the Conservatoire he has performed around the globe including Cheltenham Jazz Festival with Chris Potter, Norwegian Jazz Festival. Toured in South Africa with the Global Voices Project, Denmark and Germany.
