Sean Gibbs QuintetThe Yardbird Jazz Club |
Fresh from a successful debut gig at the 2012 Edinburgh Jazz Festival, the Sean Gibbs quintet performs original tunes influenced by the likes of Dave Holland and Kenny Wheeler.
Sean Gibbs is a trumpet player and composer from Edinburgh. First developing a passion for jazz in his early teens, he grew up playing with ensembles such as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland and the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra. Sean is now in his second year at Birmingham Conservatoire and performs regularly as both a leader and a sideman in venues across the UK. His compositions include works for jazz orchestra, septet and his current quintet, with whom he performed at the 2012 Edinburgh Jazz Festival. Some of these compositions can be heard on Sean's debut EP, 'Dawn', which was recorded in the summer of 2012 and produced by Scottish bassist Euan Burton.
